It’s finally out!
About 9 months ago I started working on this project, and talked the publishers up from 7 authors to 12 to what became a whopping 17 essays plus my own by a total of 20 authors. This book is the first anthology to look at so many varied perspectives on how rope, bondage and power exchange interrelate with one another- from gender and bondage to the power struggles of class, Chinese medicine as a model for moving energy to setting intent in your scenes… I was blown away.
The 18 pieces in the book are:
Forward: Rope, Bondage & Power – Lee Harrington
“Ceci n’est pas une Corde”: the Personal Significance of Rope – Graydancer
Seduced by the kisses of rope: Rituals and mental energy – Zamil
Exchanging Power with the Rope – Janice Stine
On the Outside Looking in with a Fist Full of Rope – Van Darkholme
Surrendering to the Vision – Coral Mallow
The Giving and Taking of Rope – Tonbi
Thoughts on Rope, Submission and Feminism – Madison Young
Bondage for people, not parcels – Esinem/Bruce Argue
The Way of a Zen Rope Master – JD of Two Knotty Boys
Finding Freedom from Performance Anxiety – Maria Shadoes
Personal Rope, Universal Power – Mark Yu
Matching Intentions: Finding the Right Partner – Lady Gold
Magick, Spirituality, and Paradox in Rope Bondage – Ariana Dawnhawk and Ryan
Anatomy of a Scene – Tony Buff and Derek da Silva
The Power of Fluency – LqqkOut
Bondage & Vulnerability – Sarah Sloane
I was Me: Alone in a Crowd – Klawdya Rothschild
Plus cover art by Lochai!
Such variety! Heterosexual, Queer and Solo players. People with over 20 years experience in the scene, and those who are coming in with fresh eyes and perspectives. Authors from across the USA, as well as England, Australia and Germany. Public and private players. International icons of rope and porn, and voices who you may not have heard of yet but deserve to sing just as loudly.
A portion of the proceeds go to Leather Archives and Museum, Woodhull Foundation and National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.
Thank you again everyone who worked on this amazing project. We plan to have a launch party/book signing at ShibariCon, and hope that this spurs the conversations around why we do rope and/or bondage all the more
Cheers,
Lee Harrington
